Ski-jumping competitions are quite attractive to spectators along the ski jump and in front of their TV sets, which is why top competitions are viewed by a large number of spectators. An insight into the history of ski-jumping competitions quickly reveals the traditional dominance of some countries which have most probably been constantly developing the general social factors of peak competitive performance. Only rarely and sporadically have the best positions in the top international competitions been occupied by competitors from countries where development of the general social factor was weaker. The generally high correlations between elementary variables of competitive performance and the overall competitive performance confirmed the hypothesis that there exists a strong first common component of ski jumpers' general competitive performance. The first general factor covered more than one-half of the total variance in the overall competitive performance (60.3%). The second, more specific factor (23.3%) was dominated by the factor projection of the Olympic Games - Gold Medal variable. Based on these results, one can establish at least hypothetically that the Olympics are a special type of competition where surprises are possible (e.g. the victory of Wojciech Fortuna at the Winter Olympics in Sapporo in 1972). Slovenian ski jumpers occupied 6th place in the final world ranking, including all medals won at top international ski jumping competitions. Given the current balance of power in the World Cup, the Slovenian team, led by the world champion Peter Prevc, approaches the best three teams of Austria, Norway and Germany"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Tekmovalni vidik smučarskih skokov daje razvoju kulture tega športa glavni pomen in družbeno odzivnost. Tekmovanja v smučarskih skokih so za gledalce ob skakalnicah in televizijskih ekranih dokaj privlačna in zato tekmovanja najvišjega ranga spremlja veliko gledalcev. Vpogled v zgodovino tekmovanj v smučarskih skokih že na prvi pogled pokaže tradicionalno dominacijo nekaterih držav, ki so prav gotovo tudi stalno najbolj kakovostno razvijale splošne družbene dejavnike potencialne tekmovalne uspešnosti. Zgolj občasno in le v posamičnih primerih so se na najvišja mesta najvišjih mednarodnih tekmovanj uspeli uvrstiti tudi tekmovalci držav, ki so dosegle nižji razvoj splošnih družbenih dejavnikov. Na splošno visoke korelacije med elementarnimi spremenljivkami tekmovalne uspešnosti in skupno tekmovalno uspešnostjo so potrdile hipotezo, da obstaja močna prva skupna komponenta generalne tekmovalne uspešnosti smučarjev skakalcev. Prvi generalni faktor je zajel več kot polovico skupne variance celotne tekmovalne uspešnosti (60,3 %). Na drugem bolj specifičnem faktorju (23,3 %) je dominirala faktorska projekcija spremenljivke olimpijske igre - zlata medalja. Na osnovi teh rezultatov bi vsaj hipotetično lahko ugotovili, da so olimpijske igre neka posebna oblika tekmovanja, kjer je možno tudi presenečenje (npr. zmaga Wojciecha Fortune na ZOI v Sapporu leta1972). Slovenski smučarji skakalci so bili na končni lestvici vseh osvojenih medalj na najvišjih mednarodnih tekmovanjih v smučarskih skokih in poletih uvrščeni na 6. mesto.
