According to Laštůvka (2001), P. bohemica has a two year development, which was also confirmed by my finds. The caterpillars can be found throughout the year. They overwinter the first year at a size of (5) 8-12 mm, during the second overwintering they are almost grown up. I found the caterpillars to be locally distributed and always in small numbers but on numerous, mainly sunny, also on partly shaded microlocalities in forests and at their margins, among light bushes in clearings. It is not difficult to find the caterpillars there on various old bushes of field rose (Rosa arvensis Huds.) and to a much lesser extent on an additional unidentified species of the genus Rosa (Rosaceae), where they cause characteristic deformations or swellings on the basal parts of young, one and two year (rarely three year) shoots. Caterpillars were not observed on older strongly woody stems. Thick stems of old bushes, isolated undergrowth and groups of bushes outside continuous woodland, open grasslands, and beside fields, roads and railways were examined unsuccessfully. Many males were attracted to the pheromones (IPO-DLO, Wageningen, The Netherlands). In the same area, we found 11 additional species of Clearwing moths"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Predstavljeni so izsledki raziskav biologije vrste Pennisetia bohemica Králíček in Povolný, 1974 v Zaplani pri Vrhniki, približno 23 km jugozahodno od Ljubljane. Po Laštůvki (2001) ima P. bohemica dveletni razvoj, kar potrjujejo tudi moje najdbe. Gosenice je mogoče najti skozi vse leto. Prvo leto prezimijo velike od (5) 8-12 mm, drugo prezimitev pa opravijo skoraj dorasle. Gosenice sem našel krajevno razširjene in vedno v manjšem številu, toda na številnih, predvsem dobro osončenih, vendar tudi na delno senčnih mikrolokalitetah v gozdu in ob njegovemu robu, med svetlim grmičevjem na jasah in posekah. Tam gosenic ni težko najti na različno starih grmičih njivskega šipka (Rosa arvensis Huds.) in v dosti manjši meri še ene nedoločene vrste iz rodu Rosa (Rosaceae), kjer na spodnjih delih mladih, eno in dveletnih (redkeje triletnih) poganjkov povzročajo nastanek značilnih deformacij ali zadebelin - šišk. Na starejših in močnih steblih prisotnost gosenic ni bila opažena. Neuspešni so bili pregledi debelih vznožij starih grmov, osamljenih grmičev in skupinic grmov izven sklenjenega gozda, na odprtih travnikih, ob njivah, cestah in železnici. Na feromone (IPO-DLO, Wageningen, Nizozemska) so prileteli številni samčki.
