The Studenice convent acquired its patronage rights through incorporation. In 1245, the Patriarch of Aquileia incorporated the ancient parish of Slivnica into the convent. Consequently, the convent acquired patronage rights over all parishes and vicariates established within the territory of the ancient parish of Slivnica. Following the dissolution of the convent, the patronage passed to the Styrian Religious Fund and subsequently to the owners of the Studenice landed estate. Over the centuries, patronage was manifested primarily in the patron’s right to nominate or present a new priest to the local bishop or ordinary for confirmation. The manner in which patronage was exercised was shaped over the centuries by both ecclesiastical and secular legislation. Patronage also entailed duties, particularly financial obligations relating to the renovation of parish buildings and buildings belonging to benefices. Because of these financial burdens, the Magdalene sisters (the Order of St Mary Magdalene), who took over and purchased the convent complex and its associated estate in 1885 and 1886, arranged for the patronage rights to be redeemed or relinquished in the 1920s and 1930s"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Časopis za zgodovino in narodopisje, Maribor 97=62(2026), 1, str. 30–58 Članek prikazuje, kako je studeniški dominikanski samostan oziroma kasneje zemljiško gospostvo Studenice imelo patronat in v manjši meri nižje odvetništvo nad patronatnimi župnijami. Studeniški samostan je do patronata prišel z inkorporacijo. Leta 1245 je oglejski patriarh samostanu inkorporiral slivniško (pra)župnijo. Posledično so samostanu pripadale patronatne pravice nad vsemi župnijami in vikariati, ki so nastali na področju slivniške pražupnije. Po ukinitvi samostana je patronat prešel na štajerski verski sklad, nato pa na lastnike zemljiškega gospostva Studenice. V stoletjih se je patronat kazal predvsem v pravici patrona, da je predlagal oziroma prezentiral novega duhovnika krajevnemu škofu oziroma ordinariju v potrditev. Na način izvrševanje patronata sta v stoletjih vplivali cerkvena in državna zakonodaja. S patronatom so bile povezane tudi dolžnosti, predvsem finančne obveznosti pri obnovah župnijskih in nadarbinskih poslopij.
