The survey took place between 20th April and 30th June 2020, covering 525 respondents who answered at least half of the questions. Quantitative analysis of the collected responses was used to interpret the results.Results: It was found that by implementing additional procedures during digitization processes would ensure better access and an efficient user experience. The emphasis was mainly on reviewing the quality of OCR recognition, implementing structure and appropriate design. It is also important to enable users to customize the displayed con­tent to their own needs and enabling a format which can be used on various devices and with help of different assistive technologies.Research limitation: Due to the different number of respondents per country, inter­pretation is only possible at the level of the total number of respondents. Due to the non­random sampling we cannot generalize results to the entire population of visually impaired e­book users. Some shortcomings of the questionnaire were also identified during the interpretation.Originality/practical implications: The research provides librarians and other interested parties with an insight into the procedures that would bring digitized material closer to the visually impaired e­book users and thus make it easier for them to participate in the society. We want to encourage all interested institutions that produce e­material, not only digitized, but also born digital, to think about this topic and make potential changes"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Namen: V članku ugotavljamo uporabniško izkušnjo oseb s slepoto ali slabovidnostjo pri branju e-knjig in sicer za namen povečanja dostopnosti le-teh tekom digitalizacije. Metodologija/pristop: Raziskava je sestavljena iz pregleda relevantnih raziskav, strokovnih priporočil in anketne raziskave bralcev e-knjig med osebami s slepoto ali slabovidnostjo v enajstih evropskih državah. Slednja je potekala med 20. aprilom in 30. junijem 2020, v njej je bilo zajetih 525 respondentov, ki so odgovorili na vsaj polovico vprašanj. Za obdelavo rezultatov smo uporabili kvantitativno analizo zbranih odgovorov. Rezultati: Ugotovljeno je bilo, da bi z uvedbo dodatnih postopkov tekom digitalizacije poskrbeli za boljši dostop in učinkovitejšo uporabniško izkušnjo. Poudarek je predvsem na pregledu kakovosti prepoznave besedila OCR, uvedbi strukture besedila in primernem oblikovanju. Pomembno je tudi omogočanje prilagajanja prikaza vsebine lastnim potrebam, in omogočanje formata, do katerega lahko uporabniki dostopajo na čim več različnih napravah in s pomočjo različnih podpornih tehnologij. Omejitve raziskave: Zaradi različnega števila respondentov na posamezno državo je interpretacija možna le na ravni skupnega števila respondentov. Zaradi neverjetnostnega vzorčenja rezultatov ne moremo posploševati na celotno populacijo oseb s slepoto ali slabovidnostjo. Tekom obdelave podatkov so bile ugotovljene tudi nekatere pomanjkljivosti vprašalnika. Izvirnost/uporabnost raziskave: Raziskava knjižničarjem in drugim zainteresiranim nudi vpogled v postopke, ki bi osebam s slepoto ali slabovidnostjo približali digitalizirano gradivo in jim tako lažje omogočali vključevanje v družbo.
