Following IFLA recommendations and other standards, they are expected to offer access to information as well as activities that relax, entertain and aid the healing process. Reading during hospitalization can reduce stress, anxiety and depression, while promoting recovery. At the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia Soča (URI Soča), the professional library also addresses patients’ needs through a specially adapted collection. This article presents the development of the Patient Library project and other library services for patients with disabilities. The project was designed to encourage reading in the hospital environment. The renovation of the collection took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The existing materials were reviewed, expanded, professionally processed and placed in a dedicated space. Special attention was given to user groups unable to use traditional (printed) books; alternative reading formats were provided for them. Through these activities, the professional library at URI Soča complements the institution's therapeutic activities and contributes to improving patients’ psychological well-being. Strokovna knjižnica URI Soča z opisanimi dejavnostmi dopolnjuje terapevtske dejavnosti URI Soča in prispeva k izboljšanju psihološkega počutja pacientov. V prihodnosti načrtuje podoben projekt, namenjen pacientom na otroškem oddelku, ter dodatne dejavnosti, ki podpirajo branje in bralno kulturo v bolnišničnem okolju</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-V1DBGIAR"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-V1DBGIAR" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-V1DBGIAR/db722219-246a-450b-b2c9-eb47dcd57b15/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">IZUM - Institut informacijskih znanosti</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-V1DBGIAR/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-V1DBGIAR" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
