Na programu olimpijskih iger je kar 32 športov, ki že poznajo svoj razpored dogodkov. Vseh 329 dogodkov je razporejenih v 18. dneh tekmovanja od srede, 24. julija, do nedelje, 11. avgusta 2024. Med njimi je tudi namizni tenis. Namizni tenis je olimpijski prvenec doživel na XXIV. igrah v Seulu leta 1988. Takrat so bile v tekmovalni urnik vključene štiri discipline – posamezno in dvojice za moške in ženske. Ta oblika se je obdržala do leta 2004. Od leta 2008 so igre dvojic zamenjale ekipne tekme, v Tokiju 2020 pa so bile vključene v program XXXII. olimpijskih iger tekme mešanih dvojic.
