It focuses on the literary sources that influenced the choice of motives and the iconography of the historical scenes that were painted for the most prominent hall of the former Kurhaus (now the Grand Hotel Rogaška). Based on archival sources the paper sheds light on the hitherto unknown historical and social context of public commissions. It discusses the role of the commissioner, the spa’s director at the time, Franz Mulli, Doctor of Law, and his connections to the representatives of the Styrian Provincial government and cultural institutions, that resulted in hiring the then highly esteemed Graz painter Alfred von Schrötter. In the new regime established after WWI, Mulli’s successor Franc Šter, Doctor of Law, commissioned a historical scene and portraits by the then highly valued portrait painter in Ljubljana, Ivan Vavpotič</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V prispevku je obravnavanih pet slik z upodobitvami najpomembnejših dogodkov v zgodovini zdravilišča Rogaška Slatina ter trije portreti Habsburžanov in dva portreta Karađorđevićev. V novih političnih razmerah po koncu prve svetovne vojne je Mullijev naslednik, doktor prava Franc Šter, naročil zgodovinsko sliko in portreta pri uveljavljenem ljubljanskem portretistu Ivanu Vavpotiču</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-UC2YFNU7"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-UC2YFNU7" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-UC2YFNU7/8b3ca3c8-ae35-4e7a-84ce-afb63e468c89/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">ZRC SAZU, Umetnostnozgodovinski inštitut Franceta Steleta</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-UC2YFNU7/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-UC2YFNU7" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
