The aim of the study was to determine to what extent the weight of different soaked garments impacts the time of swimming in a simulated water rescuing. The research sample consisted of 39 healthy adults of both genders. The participants were requested to fill in two questionnaires and swim three consecutive distances of 50 m in a 25 m covered swimming pool, each time in a different amount of clothes (swimsuit; swimsuit, T-shirt and trousers; swimsuit, T-shirt, trousers and training suit with a hoodie). The rest between swims was 15 minutes. The average swimming time expectedly increased by the amount of clothing, namely from 54 s in a swimsuit, to 65 s in a swimsuit, T-shirt and trousers; and to 73 s in a swimsuit, T-shirt, trousers and training suit with a hoodie, which were statistically significant in all three cases. The symptoms of fatigue were once more common after swimming fully dressed compared to swimming suit only. Greater amount of clothing decreased the speed and increased the swimmers' exertion. Good swimming skills are essential in rescuing a drowning person where the importance of unclothing before jumping into water should be taken into great consideration</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Sodobni napotki v primeru reševanja utapljajočega s skokom v vodo velevajo, da mora reševalec pred tem sleči odvečna oblačila. Preiskovanci so v 25-metrskem pokritem bazenu v časovnih razmakih 15 minut 50 m razdaljo preplavali trikrat: enkrat v kopalkah, enkrat v kopalkah, hlačah ter majici in enkrat v kopalkah, hlačah, majici in trenirki s kapuco.
