It is defined by mean PAP while resting equal or greater than 25 mmHg. Hightened PAP leads to overload and dysfunction of the right ventricle. Eventually, this leads to right-ventricle failure, symptoms and signs of low minute heart volume, hypoxemia and consequently an early death. During intense medical treatment and prolongation of life the patients with PH and their families face various psychosocial difficulties. Beside new regulatory changes and developmental tasks a family with a PH patient must also learn to face and live with an unpredictable future and demanding treatment. Hence, we investigated the response of patients with PH and their families to a lifelong presence of pulmonary hypertension, focusing on the ways of coping with the disease. This topic has not been studied yet, so our study represents the beginning of research of psychosocial aspects of patients with PH in Slovenia</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišča: Pljučna hipertenzija (PH) je obolenje, ki ga zaznamuje napredujoče višanje pljučnega arterijskega tlaka (PAT). Definirana je s srednjim PAT, ki je v mirovanju enak ali večji od 25 mm Hg. Zvišan PAT vodi v povečano obremenitev in nepravilno delovanje desnega prekata, do odpovedi desnega prekata, simptomov in znakov majhnega minutnega volumna srca, hipoksemije in drugih zapletov, ki vodijo v prezgodnjo smrt. Ob intenzivnem medicinskem zdravljenju in s tem podaljševanjem življenjske dobe se bolniki s PH in njihovi svojci soočajo z različnimi psihosocialnimi izzivi. Poleg normativnih sprememb in razvojnih nalog se morajo naučiti soočati in živeti z nepredvidljivo prihodnostjo in z zahtevnim zdravljenjem. S to raziskavo smo preučevali prilagajanje bolnikov in svojcev na življenje s PH, predvsem smo se osredotočili na način soočanja z boleznijo. Tako v tuji kot v slovenski literaturi je to področje še neraziskano, zato naša študija predstavlja začetek raziskovanja skupine bolnikov s PH v slovenskem prostoru tudi s psihološkimi spremenljivkami</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-U96LO10B"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-U96LO10B" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-U96LO10B/17beeacb-ed0f-40bf-93d8-c2348b949653/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-U96LO10B/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-U96LO10B" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
