After a brief introduction to optical lasers, I describe the BoseEinstein condensate and its experimental realization using laser cooling methods. Then, I describe the experimental setup of an atom laser with Bose-Einstein condensate as an active medium and compare the properties of optical and atom laser. Finally, I describe the application of the atom laser in atom interferometry"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V članku opišem delovanje atomskega laserja, ki v principu deluje podobno kot optični laser, le da atomski laser namesto elektromagnetnega valovanja emitira koherentne snovne valove. Po kratkem opisu delovanja optičnega laserja predstavim Bose-Einsteinov kondenzat in njegovo eksperimentalno realizacijo, ki temelji na laserskem hlajenju. Nato opišem, kako lahko iz Bose-Einsteinovega kondenzata, kot aktivnega medija, ustvarimo atomski laser. Opišem njegovo delovanje in ga primerjam z optičnim laserjem.
