Part of general self-concept is physical self-concept: a basic dimension of self-concept developed in childhood. It is related to development of other dimensions of self-concept. Previous researches have shown positive correlations between physical self-concept and physical fitness; however, it is less known whether the physical fitness components effect self-concept in adolescence. Therefore, we conducted a study on representative sample of 910 students in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade of primary school, who participated in ACD.Si 2013 study. Their physical fitness was assessed by SLOfit and EUROFIT tests and self-concept was assessed using Slovene version of SDQ I questionnaire. Using multiple linear regression, three models were created to analyse predictive power of physical fitness for the level of self-concept. All three models were statistically significant, however explained variance varied among self-concept dimensions: general self-concept (R2=0,075), physical self-concept % physical appearance (R2=0,166) and physical selfconcept % physical ability (R2=0,405). Variables defining aerobic endurance had the biggest impact on designing of the last model. Therefore, we assume that aerobic exercise of adolescents would have the most positive effect on their physical and consequently general self-concept</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V obdobju mladostništva se samopodoba mladostnikov, posebej deklet, zniža. Ena izmed sestavin samopodobe je telesna samopodoba, ki je prvinska sestavina samopodobe, ki se izoblikuje že v zgodnjem otroštvu in vpliva na oblikovanje ostalih sestavin samopodobe. Predhodne raziskave so pokazale na pozitivno povezanost telesne samopodobe in telesne pripravljenosti, manj pa je znanega o tem, kakšen je vpliv posameznih komponent telesne pripravljenosti na samopodobo v občutljivem obdobju odraščanja mladostnika. Da bi preučili navedeno, smo izvedli študijo na reprezentativnem vzorcu 910 učencev šestega, sedmega, osema in devetega razreda osnovne šole, ki so sodelovali v raziskavi ARTOS 2013. Za merjenje telesne pripravljenosti smo uporabili merske naloge iz merske baterije športnovzgojni karton in EUROFIT, za merjenje samopodobe pa vprašalnik samopodobe za otroke SDQ I. Vpliv telesne pripravljenosti na samopodobo smo preučevali z regresijskimi modeli. Vsi modeli so bili statistično značilni, vendar je pojasnjena varianca precej različna glede na preučevano dimenzijo samopodobe: splošna samopodoba (R2 = 0,075), telesna samopodoba, povezana z zunanjim videzom (R2 = 0,166) in telesna samopodoba, povezana s telesnimi sposobnostmi (R2 = 0,405).
