The second objective was to determine if strength-related parameters and changes in body composition are correlated with the age of the participants. Strength was tested using a handgrip test and a unilateral biceps curl one repetition maximum (1RM) test as an indicators of upper extremity strength. Body composition was tested using bioimpedance. Sixty older adult women (age range 56 to 81 years), all residents occupants of the Črnomelj Health Centre, participated in an eight-week strength training protocol. A paired-samples t-test revealed a statistically significant improvement in left and right arm biceps curl results (p &lt; 0,001), an increase in body mass (p &lt; 0,05), body mass index (p &lt; 0,05) and fat mass (p &lt; 0,05), while no differences were found in handgrip strength and muscle mass (p &gt; 0,05). The Pearson correlation coefficient showed no correlation between the changes in body composition and strength with the age of the participants (p &gt; 0.05). We consider the progressive resistance training used in our study to be feasible and useful for improving upper extremity strength in older adult women, so it can be safely used in practice</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Namen raziskave je bil preučiti vpliv 8-tedenske stopnjevane vadbe za moč na telesno sestavo in moč rok pri starejših ženskah ter ugotoviti, ali so spremembe v sestavi in moči rok zaradi vadbe odvisne od starosti preiskovank. Moč rok je bila testirana s stiskom pesti in upogibom komolca, telesno sestavo pa smo izmerili z bioimpedanco. Testa moči so preiskovanke izvedle tako z levo kot desno roko. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 60 oskrbovank Zdravstvenega doma Črnomelj, starih od 56 do 81 let. S t-testom za odvisne vzorce smo ugotovili statistično značilne razlike med začetnimi in končnimi rezultati pri upogibu komolca z levo in desno roko (p &lt; 0,001), telesni masi (p &lt; 0,05), indeksu telesne mase (p &lt; 0,05) in maščobni masi (p &lt; 0,05), medtem ko se rezultati pri stisku pesti z levo (p = 0,65) in desno (p = 0,60) roko ter mišični masi (p = 0,44) niso spremenili. S Pearsonovim korelacijskim koeficientom nismo odkrili povezanosti med spremembami v rezultatih pred-po ter starostjo preiskovank (p &gt; 0,05).
