The digital transformation impacts various areas of maritime transport. This article focuses on the documentation aspect of the digital transformation, particularly on the bill of lading as a negotiable document of title. While the UNCITRAL has been moderately successful in preparing international treaties on the carriage of goods by sea, it deserves praise for its efforts in introducing electronic commerce. The preparation of the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR) is gradually making its way into the most important maritime countries. The development is moving towards a direction where local legislation, in which lawmakers adopt the proposed concepts from MLETR, and solutions within the framework of contractual autonomy will provide an adequate legal framework for the use of electronic bills of lading in international maritime transport"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Naše generacije imajo izjemen privilegij, da lahko »on-line« spremljamo digitalno preobrazbo ene najpomembnejših in hkrati najbolj tradicionalnih gospodarskih panog - pomorskega prevoza. Digitalna transformacija posega na različna področja pomorskega prevoza. Prispevek se je osredotočil na dokumentacijski del digitalne transformacije, zlasti na nakladnico kot prenosljiv vrednostni papir. Če je bil UNCITRAL pri pripravi mednarodnih pogodb o prevozu tovora po morju zmerno uspešen, je pri uvajanju elektronskega poslovanja izredno uspešen. Priprava Modelnega zakona o elektronskih prenosljivih zapisih (MLETR) si počasi utira pot v najpomembnejše pomorske države.
