Environmental awareness, and above all market orientation and cost-effectiveness of today%s society, encourage us to treat waste as a source for new materials or to reuse waste material. In this study, we developed an alternative rejuvenator from waste tires and proved that it can revive the properties of a laboratory aged bitumen. By means of the pyrolysis process, several different products were produced, which were formed by changing the duration and the pyrolysis temperature. Among the newly developed products, we selected the most suitable for the purpose of an alternative rejuvenator. Its influence in various concentrations (3%, 5%, 10% and 20% by the bitumen mass) on the properties of fresh and laboratory aged bitumen was investigated. By using standard mechanical tests, rheological tests and rheological modelling, we have demonstrated that the alternative rejuvenator improves the properties of aged bitumen"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Zaradi sodobnega načina življenja je nastanek odpadkov neizogiben. Vse večja okoljska ozaveščenost, predvsem pa tržna naravnanost in ekonomičnost nas spodbujajo, da odpadke obravnavamo kot vir za nadaljnjo oz. ponovno uporabo. V raziskavi smo izdelali alternativni pomlajevalec iz odpadnih gum in pokazali, da lahko povrne prvotne lastnosti laboratorijsko postaranemu bitumnu. S postopkom pirolize smo izdelali več različnih produktov tako, da smo spreminjali čas trajanja in temperaturo pirolize. Med novo razvitimi produkti smo izbrali najprimernejšega za namen alternativnega pomlajevalca in preverjali njegov vpliv v različnih koncentracijah (3 %, 5 %, 10 % in 20 % glede na maso bitumna) na lastnosti svežega in laboratorijsko staranega bitumna.
