Since a key role in the modern developement is also played by christianity and Christian churches, the dilemmas of christianity and especially of the Catholic church in these processes are shown on the basis of ideological and social changes. Namely, on the one hand, the Church participated in the shaping of the processes of modernism, whereas, on the other hand, the Church as well as the society in the modern age are dependent on these processes. The Church used a defence attitude trying to adapt the modern trends in order to be able to compete with them. The postmodern thinkers emphasize the basic elements of the Gospel: the respect for the autonomy of man as a person, the subsidiarity of the society, the consideration of the transcendence of the person, the solidarity of persons and the dialogue. The latter is also a preferred attitude of the Church because in dialogue it changes its relation to the world and acts in accordance with the Gospel and the guidelines of the Second Vatican Council requiring the Church to permanently renew itself in dialogue"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Cilj razprave je pokazati nekatere dileme modernega sveta in poskuse tako imenovanih postmodernih tokov, da bi jih presegli. Ker pa imajo znotraj modernega razvoja ključno vlogo tudi krščanstvo in krščanske cerkve, hočemo, na podlagi idejnih in družbenih sprememb pokazati na dileme krščanstva in posebej katoliške Cerkve v teh procesih, saj je Cerkev po eni strani sooblikovala procese moderne, po drugi strani pa od teh procesov odvisna tako Cerkev kot družba v moderni dobi. Cerkev se je z obrambno držo skušala prilagajati modernim tokovom, da bi jim mogla konkurirati. Postmoderni misleci izpostavljajo temeljne prvine evangelija; prvič, kot spoštovanje celostne podobe oziroma avtonomije človeka kot osebe; drugič, subsidiarnost družbe; tretjič, kot upoštevanje transcendence osebe; četrtič, kot solidarnost oseb in petič, kot dialog.
