This ambiguous nature of the book and with it the impact of the market on the organization of knowledge in book format remains a dark spot in contemporary book research. Onthe other hand, textbooks are considered as ephemera both in contemporary education and book studies. Therefore, research on textbooks publishing modelscould be considered as a blind-spot of contemporary social studies. As aconsequence, in the majority of European countries, textbook publishing and the organization of the textbook market are considered as self-evident. Throughout a comparative analysis of textbook publishing models in small transitional and developed countries, the paper points out that this self-evident organization of the textbook market is always culturally determined. In its final part, the paper compares different models of textbookpublishing and outlines the scenarios for the development of the Slovene textbook market"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek uvodoma analizira ključne lastnosti knjige kot tiskanega medija in opozarja na njeno dvojno naravo: njena \"fizična\" eksistenca je praviloma vezana na delovanje tržnih mehanizmov, medtem ko s svojo vsebino knjiga praviloma posega v kulturno, izobraževalno ali znanstveno sfero, za katere vsaj v kontinentalni Evropi velja, da naj ne bi bile podvržene neposrednemu delovanju tržnih mehanizmov. Članek postavlja tezo, da ostaja ta dvojna narava knjige in z njo vpliv delovanja tržnih mehanizmov na organizacijo znanja v knjižnem formatu neraziskano področje. Še bolj neraziskano področje so učbeniki, ki veljajo tako med pedagogi kot raziskovalci knjige za efemerno področje. Zato se raziskovanje modelov izdajanja učbenikov postavlja v presečišče treh slepih peg sodobnih družboslovnih in humanističnih ved, ki jih namesto resnih analitičnih modelov obvladuje prepričanje o samoumevni organiziranosti področja. Članek skozi primerjalno analizo modelov izdajanja učbenikov v malih tranzicijskih in razvitih državah pokaže, da je ta samoumevnost vedno kulturno naddoločena.
