One may have expected that, by now, the relationship between the two foreign policy instruments would be fully integrated into the institutional framework. Yet, as the article shows, this is not the case. Several factors impact and blur the relationship between them: the lack of a structural approach, insufficient institutional support, and fragmentation of both activities. With all three factors in mind, we analysed whether both can operate as complementary activities, even though they are currently regarded as supplementary ones. The expected policy coherence has not been automatically established between the two activities, as one might have assumed"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Slovenska gospodarska diplomacija je starejša od petindvajset let in enako velja tudi za mednarodno razvojno sodelovanje, kljub dejstvu, da je Slovenija postala donatorica razvojne pomoči šele decembra 2004. Lahko bi torej pričakovali, da bo odnos med dvema sredstvoma zunanje politike, gospodarsko diplomacijo in mednarodnim razvojnim sodelovanjem, vključeno v institucionalni okvir slovenske zunanje politike. Pričujoč članek pa kaže ravno nasprotno. Odnos med gospodarsko diplomacijo in mednarodnim razvojnim sodelovanjem namreč ni jasen, na kar vplivajo različni dejavniki: pomanjkanje strukturnega pristopa, pomanjkanje institucionalne podpore in razdrobljenost obeh aktivnosti. Upoštevajoč vse tri dejavnike smo v članku analizirali, ali lahko obe delujeta kot dopolnjujoči se dejavnosti, čeprav sta trenutno obravnavani predvsem kot dejavnosti, ki se ne dopolnjujeta, temveč nadomeščata.
