They influence the accumulation and the transport of energy in various forms. The energy exchange between the ocean surface and the atmosphere is shown and the horizontal transport of oceanic water is explained as a consequence of the temperature, salinity and wind fields. The surface and subsurface oceanic currents are discussed. Due to the anthropogenic forcing the atmospheric greenhouse effect is increasing and the temperature of Earth's surface and atmosphere is increasing. Some effects of the increasing temperatures upon the oceans and their currents are described. Especially we discuss the effects of the temperature change upon the floating sea ice and upon the continental ice sheets as the mass balance of this ice is directly connected to the sea level change. We comment also the other factors influencing the sea level height and their relevance in the forthcoming climate change"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Morja in oceani so bistveni v globalni energijski bilanci Zemlje ter močno vplivajo na shranjevanje in prenašanje energije. Prikazujemo, kakšne so energetske povezave med ozračjem in oceani in kako zaradi temperaturnih, slanostnih in vetrovnih razmer prihaja do kroženja oceanske vode na površju in v globini oceanov. Človeške dejavnosti postopoma povečujejo atmosferski učinek tople grede, kar se kaže v povečani temperaturi zraka in tal. Predstvavljeni so nekateri predvideni učinki povečane temperature na oceane in na tokove v njih. Posebej obravnavamo vpliv teh sprememb na ledene površine na oceanih in celinah.
