In the article it is described how Johann Jakob Balmer arrived at his famous equation. This is an empirical low which according to content and meaning would deserve this name. It gave Niels Bohr the decisive impulse for his model of the hydrogen atom. One of its postulates was endorsed by Luis de Broglie's phase waves. The energies of this model remained valid as eigenvalues od Schrödinger equation</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Na vijugasti poti do kvantne mehanike so pomembno vlogo imela spektroskopska merjanja. Članek opiše, kako je Johann Jakob Balmer prišel do svoje znamenite enačbe. To je izkustveni zakon, ki bi si po vsebini in pomenu zaslužil to ime. Dal je odločilno pobudo Nielsu Bohru za model vodikovega atoma. Enega od privzetkov modela je podprl Luis de Broglie s faznimi valovi.
