Following the adoption of several documents at both, the international and European levels, which bind the signatory nations to educate and raise awareness among children regarding their rights and the recognition of rights violations, a need for a comprehensive approach to addressing this area has been created. Slovenia, as a signatory to numerous important conventions, is obliged to adopt certain measures in the field of education and for promoting awareness among its teaching staff and students, as well as to report on the developments regularly. The most sustainable solution is the introduction of a special elective subject of human rights and fundamental freedoms in elementary schools, and a suitable revision of the curricula of certain subjects in secondary schools or compulsory courses in general secondary schools. Another appropriate solution lies in the introduction of a compulsory subject on democratic citizenship and human rights to elementary and secondary schools, which is in accordance with the recommendation of the Council of Europe. In view of the implementation of the aforementioned solutions, a certain engagement of school leadership is required. By means of introducing lasting solutions, the implementation of measures will not be limited to European Social Fund projects or the national budget"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Ozaveščenost o pomembnosti človekovih pravic sili v iskanje trajnejših rešitev na področju poučevanja človekovih pravic in temeljnih svoboščin. S sprejetjem vse več dokumentov tako na mednarodni kot evropski ravni, ki zavezujejo države pogodbenice k izobraževanju in ozaveščanju otrok o njihovih pravicah ter prepoznavanju kršitev slednjih, se je ustvarila potreba po celovitem obravnavanju tega področja. Slovenija je kot podpisnica številnih pomembnih konvencij zavezana sprejeti določene ukrepe tudi na področju izobraževanja in ozaveščanja šolskega kadra ter učencev in dijakov ter o njih redno poročati. Najbolj trajno rešitev predstavlja uvedba posebnega izbirnega predmeta Človekove pravice in temeljne svoboščine v osnovnih šolah ter ustrezna dopolnitev izobraževalnih programov pri določenih predmetih v srednjih šolah oziroma obveznih vsebinah v gimnazijskih programih. Ustrezno rešitev predstavlja tudi uvedba obveznega predmeta Demokratično državljanstvo in človekove pravice v osnovnih in srednjih šolah, ki je skladna s priporočilom Sveta Evrope. Za realizacijo navedenih rešitev je potreben tudi poseben angažma vodstvenega kadra v vzgojno-izobraževalnih zavodih.
