From 1878 to 1895 he was a mayor of Odessa, the most important commercial port in the Russian state at the time. Maraslis changed the appearance of Odessa, at the same time greatly contributing to its economic, demographic and cultural growth. During Maraslis's rule Odessa saw many important events and advancements, such as the opening of the first tram route and the erection of the city theatre. The name of Grigoriy Maraslis also stands for the highest donations for the cultural and charitable purposes in the entire history of Odessa. The author of this paper claims that the successful rule of Maraslis decisively enhanced the position of Odessa within the Russian empire. Namely, Odessa became in all aspects entirely comparable to the other largest Russian cities of the time - Saint-Petersburg, Moscow and Kiev</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Grigorij Grigorjevič Marazli (1831-1907), pripadnik grške diaspore v severni črnomorski regiji, predstavlja pomembno javno osebnost v Ruskem imperiju zadnje četrtine 19. stoletja. Odesa je namreč v vseh ozirih postala primerljiva z ostalimi takrat največjimi ruskimi mesti - s Sankt Peterburgom, Moskvo in Kijevom</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-R3RCQ0EQ"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-R3RCQ0EQ" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-R3RCQ0EQ/c0434b74cd779-f97-b-bccd5600f60-c0dd/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Zgodovinsko društvo dr.
