It abolished the system of co-payments in compulsory health insurance and the associated supplementary health insurance as of January 1st, 2024. Following the legislator’s last unsuccessful attempt to abolish the system of copayments and the supplementary health insurance at the beginning of 2020, today all medical care under the compulsory health insurance is fully covered by the said insurance itself. This paper looks at the main legal and other challenges related to supplementary health insurance, the (in) advisability and path of its abolition, and the new arrangements of health care and health insurance is Slovenia, which is now partially financed by the so-called compulsory health contribution20. 7. 2023 je pričel veljati Zakon o spremembah in dopolnitvah Zakona o zdravstvenem varstvu in zdravstvenem zavarovanju (ZZVZZ-T), ki je s 1. 1. 2024 ukinil sistem doplačil v obveznem zdravstvenem zavarovanju in z njimi povezano dopolnilno zdravstveno zavarovanje. Po zadnjem neuspešnem poskusu zakonodajalca ukiniti sistem doplačil in dopolnilnega zdravstvenega zavarovanja v začetku leta 2020, so danes, štiri leta kasneje, vse stvari in storitve iz obveznega zdravstvenega zavarovanja za obvezno zavarovane osebe krite v celoti.
