The University tries to establish the professional system of supervision and legal sanctions to all graduates who breached the rules in defending their final thesis. The final paper shall be an independent work in which the graduate is allowed to use different sources under the condition of proper citation. The statute of the University prescribes the legal sanctions for the significant breach of copyright and other misuses. The most severe legal sanction is withdrawal of the academic title. The senate of the University member (Faculty or Academia of Arts) decides about the withdrawal of the professional title, but the Universitys senate is competent for the decision about the scientific title (Ph D). The senate appoints a special commission with the task to check carefully the concrete case. The accused graduate has the right to put his/her comments to the commissions report. Finally the competent senate decides with majority of votes. The graduate can appeal on the senates decision to the administrative courtPlagiatorstvo (prikazovanje tujega dela kot lastnega) v zadnjih letih postaja resen problem tudi na Univerzi v Ljubljani. Zato univerza poskuša zagotoviti učinkovit sistem nadzora pri izdelavi zaključnih del in določiti pravne posledice kršitev. Zaključno delo mora biti rezultat diplomantovega samostojnega dela, uporaba tujih virov je dopustna le znotraj uveljavljenih pravil citiranja. Pravne posledice kršitve avtorske pravice in drugih pravil določa statut. Najstrožja sankcija za nespoštovanje pravil je odvzem strokovnega naslova. O tem odloča senat članice oziroma senat univerze. V postopku je imenovana posebna komisija, ki mora skrbno pregledati očitke. Diplomant, ki mu grozi odvzem, lahko poda svojo izjavo na poročilo komisije. O odvzemu naslova pa odloča pristojni senat.
