At the same time, it focuses on the Czech language and culture as the target ones. Bearing in mind the current international approach to the subject (as seen, for example, in the foundation of the National Academy for Ladino) and the new fields of interest in the frame of Translation Studies (e.g., the study of languages that have been marginal and marginalized), the article aims to study the motivation of Czech translations from Judeo-Spanish. In doing so, it examines paratexts that accompany the translations that have been found. Given that the author opens the topic in the context of Czech Translation Studies, the paper is based on her recent findings that embrace discs of Sephardic songs, books that include passages written in Judeo-Spanish and others. The study of the mentioned paratexts shows the topics of ethics and social responsibility as hidden in two disasters that happened within Sephardic history – the expulsion of the Iberian Peninsula ordered by Catholic Monarchs, and the Holocaust – and it understands them as motivations for translating and thus saving the language and its cultureV pričujočem članku sta koncepta etike in družbene odgovornosti izhodišči za ohranitev judovsko-španskega jezika ter hkrati dejavnika, ki vplivata na prevajanje judovske španščine v druge jezike, s poudarkom na češkem jeziku in kulturi. Ob upoštevanju trenutnega odnosa do judovske španščine v mednarodnem okviru (denimo ustanovitev Nacionalne akademije za ladino) in novih interesnih področij prevodoslovja (kot je študij marginaliziranih in marginalnih jezikov) je namen pričujočega prispevka preučiti razloge, ki spodbujajo prevajanje iz judovske španščine v češčino. V ta namen proučuje paratekste, ki spremljajo obravnavane prevode. Ker avtorica to temo odpira v okviru češkega prevodoslovja, študija temelji na avtoričinih najnovejših ugotovitvah, ki obsegajo: plošče sefardskih pesmi, knjige, ki vsebujejo odlomke v judovski španščini itd. Študija teh paratekstov izpostavlja vprašanja etike in družbene odgovornosti, ki se skrivata v dveh pogubnih dogodkih sefardske zgodovine: izgonu s Pirenejskega polotoka s strani Katoliških kraljev in holokavstu, ter ju predstavlja kot razlog, ki je spodbudil prevajanje in posledično ohranitev jezika ter njegove kultureEl presente artículo toma los conceptos de la ética y la responsabilidad social como los puntos de partida para la conservación de la lengua judeoespanola y como los agentes que influyen en la traducción del judeoespanol a otras lenguas, poniendo énfasis en la lengua y cultura checas. Teniendo en cuenta la actual actitud internacional respecto al tema (por ejemplo, la fundación de la Academia Nacional del Ladino) y nuevos campos de interés dentro de la traductología (como el estudio de las lenguas marginadas y marginales hasta hace poco), la comunicación pretende estudiar la motivación de las traducciones checas del judeoespanol. Para tal fin, examina los paratextos que acompanan dichas traducciones. Puesto que la autora abre dicho tema dentro de la traductología checa, el estudio se basa aquí en sus descubrimientos actuales que comprenden: discos de canciones sefardíes, libros que conllevan pasajes judeoespanoles, etcétera.
