Medical technical aids include prefabricated orthoses, intermediate products and custom made orthoses. The prefabricated orthoses that are offered to the insurance holders according to the regulations of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (HIIS) in specialised shops and pharmacies have to be correctly chosen and adjusted. Adequate application of an orthosis requires knowledge of the anatomy, materials, purpose and function of the orthosis. A certified prosthetist and orthotist (CPO) acquires this knowledge during the study at the Faculty for Health Sciences, but CPOs are rarely employed in specialised shops and pharmacies. When reviewing the regulations from this field we did not find a regulation that would oblige the providers of medical technical aids to employ suitable professionals. The aim of our study was to find out who provides and fits orthoses in specialised shops and pharmacies, what solutions do they offer to the patient and how they approach resolving the patients problem. Methods: Four CPOs visited specialized shops and pharmacies that supply medical technical aids according to a contract with the HIIS. We introduced ourselves as patients or relatives of the patient and interviewed the staff. The structured interview was prepared beforehand. Results: We visited 22 offices. In the opinion of their staff, they all offered orthoses which do not require any further adjustment. In most of the offices they did not demand that the user of the orthosis should came to the office him/herself for application of the orthosis. Only one office employed a CPO"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Izhodišča: Izdajanje medicinskih pripomočkov (MP) je v Sloveniji urejeno z Zakonom o zdravstvenem varstvu in zdravstvenem zavarovanju. Mednje sodijo tudi ortoze, ki so serijsko izdelane, polizdelki ali narejene individualno za vsakega posameznika. Serijsko izdelane ortoze, ki jih po pravilih Zavoda za zdravstveno zavarovanje Slovenije (ZZZS) zavarovanci lahko dobijo v nekaterih specializiranih prodajalnah in lekarnah, morajo biti pravilno izbrane in prilagojene. Za ustrezno namestitev ortoze je treba poznati anatomijo in materiale, treba pa je tudi vedeti, kakšen je namen uporabe ortoze in kakšna je njena funkcija. Vsa ta znanja si v času šolanja na Zdravstveni fakulteti pridobijo diplomirani inženirji ortotike in protetike, ki so le redko zaposleni v specializiranih prodajalnah in lekarnah. Pri pregledu predpisov s tega področja pa nismo našli nobenega, ki bi dobavitelje MP obvezoval, da morajo zaposliti usposobljene strokovnjake. Namen naše študije je bil ugotoviti, kdo ortoze izdaja v pooblaščenih specializiranih prodajalnah in lekarnah, kakšne rešitve ponudijo in kako pristopijo k reševanju problema. Metode: Štirje inženirji ortotike in protetike smo obiskali nekaj lekarn in specializiranih prodajaln, ki imajo z ZZZS sklenjeno pogodbo o dobavi medicinsko tehničnih pripomočkov. Predstavili smo se kot pacienti ali svojci pacientov in zaposlene intervjuvali z vnaprej pripravljenim vprašalnikom. Rezultati: Obiskali smo 22 poslovalnic. V vseh poslovalnicah so predstavili ortoze, ki po njihovem mnenju ne potrebujejo prilagoditev. V večini od poslovalnic, ki smo jih obiskali, se zaposlenim ne zdi potrebno, da bi protezo prevzela oseba, ki jo bo uporabljala. Le v eni od njih je bil zaposlen diplomirani inženir ortotike in protetike.
