Model LRM je splošen in abstrakten in predstavlja predvsem okvir, znotraj katerega lahko načrtovalci informacijskih sistemov razvijajo konsistentne razširitve. Za definicijo modela LRM je bil, v skladu z modeli družine FRBR, uporabljen entitetno-relacijski formalizem. V članku so prikazana uporabniška opravila, ki so osnova za razvoj modela, sledijo definicije entitet in primeri atributov in relacij. Posebej je opisano modeliranje agregatov, ki pogosto predstavlja problem.
