This article brings an insight into theories explaining gender inequalities in relation to scientific productivity, along with an extensive survey of empirical studies in the field of the sociology of science. The emphasis lies largely on empirical studies, which often bring diametric results. The author seeks to illuminate the problems and circumstances women encounter on their scientific career paths. Special attention is paid to questions regarding the balancing of scientific careers with care for onećs family and children. It seems that considerable progress has been made in the last few decades, although the circumstances are still not those we would hope for"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Problematika žensk v znanosti se je v Sloveniji kar pogosto obravnavala, redkeje pa vprašanja, povezana z znanstveno produktivnostjo žensk. Članek prinaša vpogled v teorije, ki razlagajo neenakosti med spoloma v povezavi z znanstveno produktivnostjo, in obširen pregled tovrstnih empiričnih študij s področja sociologije (znanosti). Poudarek je predvsem na empiričnih študijah, ki pogosto prinašajo precej diametralne rezultate.
