It works on the principle of modifying the genetic material by replacing or inhibiting certain genes. This can be achieved by inserting genes into somatic or germ cells, in in vivo or ex vivo conditions. Positive results can already be observed in many clinical trials when treating autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Despite the positive results, gene therapy is in the early stages of research, where concerns about the safety of the therapy itself remain, due to its possible side effects such as tumor formation and adverse immune responses</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Gensko zdravljenje je metoda zdravljenja, ki velja za zelo obetavno, še posebej na področju težko ozdravljivih avtoimunskih in genetskih bolezni ter različnih vrst raka. Kljub pozitivnim rezultatom je gensko zdravljenje v začetnih stopnjah raziskav, saj se še vedno pojavljajo pomisleki glede same varnosti terapije zaradi možnih neželenih učinkov, kot so nastanek tumorjev in škodljivih imunskih odzivov</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-Q4GRJ0HE"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-Q4GRJ0HE" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-Q4GRJ0HE/d-66886b59d9895f4ac-a-f6e3bbe-a22075/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-Q4GRJ0HE/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-Q4GRJ0HE" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
