Središčna tema je bila proučevanje etnične identitete in njenih manifestativnih oblik pri slovenski etnični skupini na južnem Koroškem. Uporabljeni sta bili metodi intervjujev in \"opazovanja z udeležbo\". V intervjujih tematiziramo predvsem štiri odnose: 1. (dvojezično) socializacijo, 2. jezikovno opredelitev, 3. istovetenja in tujosti v odnosih med manjšino, večino in matico in 4. etnično samopodobo.
