It forms a part of the Bohinj railroad. It was built in 1906 as part of the railroad connection between Jesenice, Gorizia and the port of Trieste. The railway and all the structures were built by the Austrian Railroad State Company in the record time of three years. On the section between Jesenice and Gorizia three big stone bridges were built. These bridges were: the Solkan bridge with a span of 85 m, still today its arch is the biggest stone arch in the world in the category of bridges, the Ajba bridge near Kanal with three arches of 40 m and one arch of 30 m, and the Vintgar bridge with one arch having a span of 41 m. However, the Vintgar bridge is the only one of the three big stone bridges that is still preserved in its original shape. At the same time, it is the biggest stone bridge in Slovenia that has been preserved in unchanged shape to this day</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V ozki soteski reke Radovne, znani pod imenom Vintgar, se nedaleč od Bleda na Bohinjski železniški progi nahaja kamniti most z imenom Vintgar. Most Vintgar je še vedno v uporabi in po njem teče železniški promet med Jesenicami in Sežano</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-PIH9TNXS"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-PIH9TNXS" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-PIH9TNXS/e1d08c37-3bda-4306-9243-432589c4e59f/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Zveza društev gradbenih inženirjev in tehnikov Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-PIH9TNXS/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-PIH9TNXS" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
