In addressing these issues, we start from the thesis that adequate education of immigrant students is only possible in an inclusive education that takes into account the principle of interculturality, which is manifested at the systemic, curricular, didactic, organisational and relational levels, as well as in the field of educator education and training. We conclude that while many changes have been made in recent years to facilitate the integration of immigrant students in education, their chances of success and development are hampered by teachers’ low expectations, misunderstandings of (minimum) knowledge standards, a lack of a progressive integration model and a lack of respect for plurilingualism. The principle of interculturality in curriculum and textbook design also remains unaddressed</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Članek obravnava tri problemske sklope, s katerimi se danes v Sloveniji srečujemo pri izobraževanju učencev in dijakov priseljencev: zagotavljanje primerljivih standardov znanja; vzpostavljanje pogojev za učenje slovenščine in vključevanje učencev in dijakov priseljencev v pouk ter vzpostavljanje medkulturne in inkluzivne zasnove splošne izobrazbe. Pri obravnavi teh sklopov izhajamo iz teze, da je ustrezno izobraževanje učencev priseljencev mogoče zgolj v inkluzivno zasnovanem izobraževanju, ki upošteva načelo medkulturnosti, kar se kaže na sistemski, kurikularni, didaktično-organizacijski in odnosni ravni ter na področju izobraževanja strokovnih delavcev. Ugotavljamo, da so bile v zadnjem obdobju dosežene številne spremembe, ki lajšajo vključevanje učencev in dijakov priseljencev v izobraževanje, a hkrati njihove možnosti uspeha in razvoja zmanjšujejo prenizka pričakovanja učiteljev, napačno razumevanje (minimalnih) standardov znanja, neizdelan model postopnega vključevanja v pouk in neupoštevanje koncepta raznojezičnosti.
