This article looks at two specific issues: structural and ownership changes in the print media markets of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland since 1989. Using analytical tools of media economics research characteristics of market structures, such as development of supply and demand, concentration, barriers to market entry, vertical integration, are analysed. It is argued that post-communist print media markets became less concentrated compared to the communist era, and due to frequent ownership changes market concentration levels fluctuated but not increased substantially during the 1990s. The article also gives an overview of the main characteristics of local and foreign-owned media companies. The development and reasons behind foreign investments are examined, as foreign ownership played a significant role in the print media sectors of the three countries during the post-communist era. It is argued that foreign media ownership is part of the general internationalisation of post-communist media in East Central Europe, which process has both negative and positive effects</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V preoblikovanju množičnih občil v vzhodni srednji Evropi v pokomunističnem času igrajo odločilno vlogo ekonomske, socialne, politične in kulturne spremembe. Članek obravnava dve specifični problematiki: spremembe v strukturi in lastništvu na češkem, madžarskem in poljskem trgu po letu 1989. Analizirane so spremembe v ponudbi in povpraševanju, koncentraciji in vertikalni integraciji tiska. Članek posebej obravnava glavne značilnosti lokalnih medijskih družb in družb v tuji lasti, zlasti razvoj tujih investicij in razloge zanje, saj so tuji lastniki igrali pomembno vlogo v tranzicijskem času v vseh treh analiziranih državah. Tuje lastništvo je obravnavano kot del splošne internacionalizacije pokomunističnih občil v vzhodni srednji Evropi, ki ima tako negativne kot pozitivne posledice</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-OSKPYT3R"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-OSKPYT3R" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-OSKPYT3R/e70723aa-e7de-4c98-b0fd-46c11d1145e4/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Evropski inštitut za komuniciranje in kulturo - EURICOM</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-OSKPYT3R/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-OSKPYT3R" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
