The authors answer this question using Slovenian Ministry of Finance data on state-aid recipients between 1998 and 2008 and firm-level accounting data from the same period. Results show that state-aid recipients increase their market share and productivity growth in subsequent periods. Despite these findings, the overall effect on allocative efficiency appears to be neutral. The study also investigates the effect of state aid on firm exit rates and finds that government interventions delay the exit of firms receiving aid. In this manner, state-aid grants introduce market distortions and hinder competition"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Cilj prispevka je ugotoviti, v kolišni meri dodeljevanje državnih pomoči v Sloveniji vpliva na omejevanje konkurence na trgu. V empirični analizi uporabljamo interne podatke ministrstva za finance o vseh prejemnikih državnih pomoči v obdobju 1998-2008 in podatke iz bilanc stanja in izkazov uspeha gospodarskih družb v tem obdobju. Državne pomoči v povprečju pozitivno vplivajo na povečanje tržnega deleža podjetij prejemnikov, vendar je ta vpliv z vidika alokacijske učinkovitosti ekonomsko dokaj nevtralen. Rezultati analize namreč kažejo, da je prejemanje pomoči v predhodnih obdobjih povezano s povečanjem stopnje rasti produktivnosti. Pomemben kanal realokacije proizvodnih dejavnikov je tudi izstop podjetij, na katerega državne pomoči delujejo zaviralno.
