It also addresses their potential impacts on the environment and the socio-economic status of subsistence African farmers. South Africa, Burkina Faso and Egypt are the only African countries that are commercially producing genetically modified crops. Several other countries are reporting field trials or the availability of research capacities. In the last few years, the majority of African countries have received food aid that is often genetically modified. Due to health and environmental concerns, several countries have rejected such aid and triggered reforms of international food aid policies. The article presents the main legal responses to the introduction of genetically modified organisms and some possibilities for achieving food security, taking the projected effects of climate change and population growth into account</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Prispevek vrednoti sedanjo in potencialno prihodnjo vlogo gensko spremenjenih organizmov v kmetijski proizvodnji afriških držav ter proučuje njihove možne učinke na okolje in socialno-ekonomski položaj samooskrbnih afriških kmetov. Južnoafriška republika, Burkina Faso in Egipt so zaenkrat edine afriške države s komercialnim gojenjem gensko spremenjenih pridelkov, številne druge pa poročajo o poljskih poskusih in raziskovalnih kapacitetah. Prispevek predstavlja tudi glavne zakonodajne odzive afriških držav na uvajanje gensko spremenjenih organizmov kot tudi alternative zagotavljanja zanesljive preskrbe s hrano, upoštevaje napovedane posledice podnebnih sprememb in rasti prebivalstva</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-O8PGMACG"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-O8PGMACG" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-O8PGMACG/346cb52d-55d9-47e2-a2fd-9e0703cfdca7/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Slovensko sociološko društvo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-O8PGMACG/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-O8PGMACG" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
