Theory of ideology is improving persistently and reveals a lot of social happenings that were not thought to have an ideological character. One of such happenings is also sport. The process of governmental influence as we are witnessing in Slovenia is so subtle and unrecognizable that it has surpassed even the sports sociologists and other sports theoreticians in a certain segments. The following article attempts to present sport as an ideological mean and technology for controlling, regulating, and disciplining. The state as an institution of power explores the organizing of (sporting) pleasure for ideological effects. The mass of people actively involved in sports, subsequently becomes controlled, regulated, disciplined and tamed. The state`s regulation of sporting happenings is, on one hand, warmly accepted among athletes as well as among other sports fans, but on the other hand, the state`s influence is becoming disturbing. The question, arising from all this is: Does the state have in this democratic and humanistic moment, the right to so sharply interfere in the organisation of some pleasure activities as it is happening in Slovenia, with adopting of the Law on sports and National sports programme?TEXTznanstveno časopisjejournalsSlovenian National E-content AggregatorNational and University Library of Slovenia
