In case when no deadline for acceptance is stipulated in the offer, the Slovenian Code of Obligations differs between an offer given to a person in absentia and a verbal offer. If the offeror determines a period for acceptance, the Slovenian Code of Obligations differs between the offer given by a telegram ar letter and an offer given by telephone, telex, ar any other direct means of communication. In the article, the author explains whether an e-mail can be considered a direct means of communication ar not. On the basis of the established conclusions, the author further classifies other electronic means of communication. In the end, the author assesses the adequacy of regulated receipt theory concerning the beginning of the period for acceptance if the offer is given by telephone, telex, or any other direct means of communicationČasovna vezanost ponudbe je odvisna tudi od sredstva sporočanja, s katerim je ponudba dana. Kadar rok za sprejem ponudbe v ponudbi ni določen, Obligacijski zakonik loči med ponudbo, dano odsotni osebi, in ponudbo, dano ustno. Kadar je rok za sprejem ponudbe določen, pa zakon glede začetka teka roka loči med ponudbo, dano po pošti ali s telegramom, in ponudbo, dano po telefonu, s teleksom ali z drugimi neposrednimi sredstvi sporočanja. Avtor odgovori na vprašanje, ali elektronska pošta spada med neposredna sredstva sporočanja, in na podlagi ugotovitev razvrsti tudi druga elektronska komunikacijska sredstva.
