Therefore, the municipality of Šmarje pri Jelšah applied for the public tender Regional Development Program , which was put out in order to strengthen regional development potential for the period from 2007 to 2013, and obtained granted co-financing for the investment. A significant part of financial resources was also contributed from the municipality budget. In this way, an important building was gained, intended for preserving rich material cultural heritage of Šmarska Kalvarija, which is said to be one of the largest passion baroque art complexes in Slovenia. Construction works started in the beginning of August 2011, while the building was finished in the second half of May 2012. Today, the Centre of Baroque Art in Šmarje pri Jelšah holds a status of a museum in the nascent stages, since its collection has not been completed yetV članku sta predstavljeni rekonstrukcija in dograditev več kot stoletje starega župnijskega gospodarskega poslopja v Šmarju pri Jelšah z namenom njegove preureditve v Center baročne umetnosti. V ta namen se je občina Šmarje pri Jelšah leta 2008 prijavila na razpis Regionalni razvojni programi za krepitev regionalnih razvoj-nih potencialov za obdobje 2007-2013 in pridobila nepovratna sredstva za investicijo. Pomemben del finančnih sredstev je občina prispevala tudi sama iz svojega proračuna. S tem je bila pridobljenapomembna zgradba za hrambo bogate kulturne dediščine iz šmarske Kalvarije, ki velja za enega izmed najobsežnejših baročnih umetnostnih kompleksov v Sloveniji. Gradbena dela so se pričela v začetku avgusta 2011, objekt pa je bil dokončan v drugi polovici maja 2012.
