In The Pianist's Touch, a twenty-first century novel, even this hindmost difference between the symbolic investiture and the respective falling short of reality collapses, a difference that still interpellated and obliged Kafka's heroes, which is why Komel's protagonist can only become an utterly untouchable monument in the midst of a disenchanted world"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Na podlagi branja Pianistovega dotika, novejšega slovenskega romana Mirta Komela, članek raziskuje razliko med tem, kako je svojo naracijo smel končati klasični evropski roman, predvsem roman devetnajstega stoletja, in vedno večjo nezmožnostjo dvajsetega stoletja, da bi še lahko oblikovalo \"konec zgodbe\". Medtem ko je devetnajsto stoletje junaku še dovolilo, da se njegova zgodba konča, pa čeprav večinoma tragično, dvajseto stoletje prikazuje svet v procesu izgube simbolne strukture, kar junaka obsoja na \"narativno neskončnost\": denimo na Kafkov sram Josefa K., ki preživi njegovo smrt, utelešenje Časa pri Proustu, čisto nadaljevanje gona govorjenja pri Beckettu, ali celo nezmožnost ujetja točke smrti pri Márquezu.
