They represent approximately 6 % of all benign tumours in children. In about half of the patients the lymphangiomas are already obvious at birth. During the first 2 years of life lymphangiomas are detected in 80 - 90 % of cases. About 60 % of alllymphangiomas are found in the head and neck region, primarily affecting the tongue and the flo or of the mouth. Patients should be treated by a mu1tidisciplinary team of physicians and health professionals familiar with lymphatic malformations.
