Traditional society, which valued work, rules, and laws, is now disappearing and being replaced by ambitious, challenge-driven employees engaged in lifelong learning. Because of these changes, the current professions differ from those of the past as well as from emerging onesŽthat is, future professions. Professions that were once vital for preserving society are now disappearing due to automation of labor. Nonetheless, new professions are emerging that require trained staff able to perform them. The current development and emergence of new professions is primarily influenced by the retirement of the baby-boom generation, which will require even more trained medical staff, by developing information technology, and by the increasing focus on environmental changes and the related new environmental-protection professions. These findings have also been confirmed by a study conducted in Slovenia that examined Slovenians' views and opinions on career development and future professions</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Tehnološki razvoj, gospodarske spremembe in spremembe v mišljenju in potrebah ljudi vplivajo tudi na razvoj kariere in poklicev. Tradicionalna družba, ki je cenila delo, pravila in zakone, danes izginja, nadomeščajo pa jo ambiciozni in k izzivom usmerjeni zaposleni, za katere je značilno vseživljenjsko učenje. Zaradi omenjenih sprememb se poklici sedanjosti razlikujejo od tistih v preteklosti, prav tako pa se razlikujejo tudi od tistih, ki prihajajo - poklicev prihodnosti. Poklici, ki so bili nekdaj nujni za ohranjanje družbe, danes izginjajo, razlog pa je avtomatizacija dela. Kljub temu pa se pojavljajo novi poklici, ki potrebujejo strokovno usposobljen kader, ki lahko poklice opravlja. Na trenutno razvijanje in nastajanje novih poklicev vpliva predvsem upokojevanje generacije Žbaby boomŽ, ki bo potrebovala več strokovnega kadra s področja zdravstva, razvijajoča se informacijska tehnologija ter vse večja usmerjenost na okoljske spremembe ter s tem novi poklici s področja varovanja okolja.
