Systematic review of the prevalence of potentially inappropriate prescribing in Europe reported an estimated overall prevalence of 22.6%, while the proportion of elderly with at least one potentially inappropriate medication in Slovenia in 2013 varied from 35.4% (according to the PRISCUS list) to 60.2% (according to the EU(7)-PIM list). Similar to other published studies, women and elderly over 75 years were more exposed and there were also differences in exposure among Slovenian regions (the least exposed were in Osrednjeslovenska and Gorenjska region). The most frequently prescribed potentially inappropriate medications were non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and benzodiazepines. Potentially inappropriate prescribing tools may alert health care professionals to the possibility of inappropriate medication, but they are not intended as a substitute for careful clinical judgment for each individual patient</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Potencialno neprimerno predpisovanje pomeni predpisovanje zdravil, pri katerih so tveganja večja od koristi za bolnika, po nekaterih definicijah pa tudi predpisovanje več zdravil kot je potrebno ali nepredpisovanje zdravil, ki so potrebna za določenega bolnika.
