After all, the personal stories of emigrants and members of national minorities are often rich in real-life experience that can be beneficial for a range of developing students. For this reason, Slovene national minorities and emigrants deserve a place in the curriculum of the Republic of Slovenia. The present article is based on a study of basic learning materials, i.e., syllabi, for comprehensive grammar schools in Slovenia. More specifically, it focuses on the position of national minorities and emigrants in the geography and history syllabi. The study is based on the descriptive method and on a comparative analysis of the two syllabi. It partly answers the question of how the program of comprehensive grammar schools influences knowledge about and attitude towards Slovenes abroad</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Vsebine, povezane z narodnimi manjšinami in izseljenci, so bogate z vzgojno-izobraževalnimi potenciali, ki se kažejo zlasti v smislu spoznavanja narodovih zgodovinskih gibanj, njihovih vzvodov in posledic; v smislu spoznavanja različnih geografskih prostorov, kjer živijo Slovenci, njihovih fizično in družbeno geografskih specifik oz. njihove kompleksne prostorske specifike; ter v smislu prepoznavanja, spoznavanja in razvijanja lastne (narodove in osebne) identitete ter narodne zavesti. Nenazadnje so osebne zgodbe izseljencev in zamejcev pogosto bogate z življenjsko vsebino, ki je lahko koristna razvijajočemu se posamezniku, učencu ali dijaku. Kot take zaslužijo vsebine o slovenskih narodnih manjšinah in izseljencih posebno mesto tudi v kurikulumu Republike Slovenije. Pričujoči prispevek je nastal na podlagi raziskave temeljnih učnih gradiv, to je učnih načrtov v splošni gimnaziji v Sloveniji in sicer učnega načrta za geografijo in učnega načrta za zgodovino, z vidika vsebin o narodnih manjšinah in izseljencih. Raziskava temelji na deskriptivni metodi oz. na primerjalni analizi obeh učnih načrtov.
