The article explores how Shermanćs perversion of sexuality emerges as an art form where sexuality acquires its effectiveness in relation to the grotesque. On the one hand, the text analyses the Sex Pictures series as a radical distancing from, and profanation of, the established pornographic imaginary: on the other hand, it explores the subversion of artistic formulation as a mutation from the sexual into the grotesqueSerija fotografij Sex Pictures ameriške sodobne umetnice Cindy Sherman razkriva svojo hrbtno stran: na pričakovanem mestu erotično vzburljivih prizorov, pornografskega spektakla seksualnosti in poželjivih teles se srečamo z repulzijo amputiranih erotičnih objektov, seksualnostjo lutk in hibridov, ki tvorijo teater grotesknosti in horora. V besedilu skušamo detektirati, kako se obrat seksualnosti pri Cindy Sherman pokaže kot umetniška forma, kjer seksualnost pridobi svojo efektivno moč v razmerju do grotesknosti.
