As a member of the international plebiscite committee, Tesniere had a special connection to Carinthia and described the situation there in detail from a “Slavic perspective” in the introduction to his atlas. The analysis of the Carinthian material shows that he succeeded in overcoming international political obstacles. Furthermore, he rejected the thesis that there was a connection between the preservation of the dual and cultural backwardnessPrispevek uvodoma predstavlja ozadje koroškega plebiscita leta 1920 in francosko zunanjo politiko, ki je omogočila Tesnierjevo lingvističnogeografsko raziskavo dvojine v slovenščini.
