The discourse on "automobility" is chiefly driven by the natural and technical sciences, as well as publicists, leading to (reductionist) views that the issue is primarily one of technology. Drawing on F. Sigaut''s writings and rare ethnographical (D. Miller) and sociological (J. Urry) studies, we aim to show that quite the opposite thesis is relevant: the essential issue about cars is, in Daniel Miller''s words, its "humanity"Avtomobil kot dominantna tehnologija, ki prežema družbene odnose, človesko geografijo, nacionalne ekonomije in konkretne posameznikove izkušnje, je znotraj humanistike in družboslovja spregledana tema. Diskurz "avtomobilnosti" poganjajo povsem naravoslovne, tehniške vede ter publicistika, kar vodi do (redukcionističnih) pogledov, da gre predvsem za vprašanje tehnologije. S pomočjo F. Sigauta ter redkih etnografskih (D. Miller) ter socioloških (J.
