After completing the Volksschule in Maribor, Nagy continued with his studies at the Technische Hochschule in Graz and in Vienna. In his contribution, the author reveals how Nagy's knowledge within the profession of construction proved to be of immense help to him later in his life, when he became first a city councillor and then mayor. At the same time, the author emphasizes in the article the facts that helped the City of Maribor under Nagy's governance acquire several new school buildings, a new hospital building, several military facilities, slaughter houses and, last but not least, a new water supply system. Based on the writings of Nagy's contemporaries, with these acquisitions Maribor turned into a true modern city"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Avtor se v svojem prispevku ukvarja s problematiko mariborskega župana inženirja Aleksandra Nagyja, ki je županoval v Mariboru od leta 1886 do leta 1902. Nagy je po končani ljudski šoli v Mariboru nadaljeval študij na visokih tehniških šolah v Gradcu in na Dunaju. Avtor v svojem prispevku razkriva, kako je bilo Nagyju v pomoč poznavanje gradbene stroke pri njegovem kasnejšem udejstvovanju kot občinski ter mestni svetnik in kot županu. Hkrati pa avtor v prispevku poudari dejstva, zaradi katerih je mesto Maribor postalo prav v času Nagyjevega županovanja bogatejše za več novih šolskih stavb, novo bolnišnično stavbo, več vojaških objektov, klavničnih poslopij in nenazadnje za nov vodovodni sistem.
