Due to consequential neurogenic bladder, the patient needed intermittent catheterisation (IC). IC represents a technique which lowers the chance of infection and damage of urinary tract in patients with spinal cord injury. The article describes the process of teaching the skills of intermittent self-catheterisation to the teenage boy and his mother. Successful IC requires the appropriate knowledge of professionals (graduate nurse), good cooperation with a young patient and parents, appropriate and respectful communication among all three of themIntermitentna katetrizacija predstavlja tehniko praznjenja sečnega mehurja, ki zmanjšuje tveganje za okužbo in okvaro sečil pri bolnikih z okvaro hrbtenjače. V prispevku so predstavljeni postopki in izid zdravstvene nege mladostnika po prebolelem infarktu hrbtenjače. Pri mladostniku je zaradi okvare hrbtenjače prišlo do zastoja seča v mehurju, zato je potreboval intermitentno katetrizacijo. Opisano je učenje izvajanja čiste intermitentne katetrizacije mladostnika in njegove matere.
