Microgeometrical properties of surface can be objectivily measured with it?s surface profile. Shown are the methods of surface profile estimating, as those wich are defined by international industrial standards, as those methods, which derives from theory of random functions analysis. Presented results shows that is possible to estimate part of deterministic impact of theoretic worktool moving against the part of other random impacts on the surface profileTopografija površine, ki nastane po obdelavi lesa z odrezavanjem, nosi v sebi mnogo informacij o kvaliteti tehnološkega postopka, s katerim je ta površina nastala. Mikrogeometrijske značilnosti te površine je mogoče objektivno meriti s lastnostmi profila te površine. Prikazane so metode ocenjevanja lastnosti profila površine, in sicer tako tiste, ki so že definirane z mednarodnimi industrijskimi standardi, kot tudi metode, ki izvirajo iz teorije analize naključnih funkcij.
