The notion of drawing within the discipline and its specific knowledge production isn’t all that novel. Drawing has been used in anthropology since the beginning, albeit with a focus on its illustrative possibilities. But what can its role be in the present day, especially acknowledging the discipline’s overwhelming interest in expanding its multimodal approaches? Even a quick overview offers us an inkling that the method greatly exceeds its original purpose of illustration. It can act as a collaborative research technique, nudge its way into autoethnographic reflections, or visually mediate what is otherwise hidden. Unlike a photograph, drawing can visually cross the bounds between what is affectively experienced and what can be seen, as also pointed out by artist and anthropologist Karina Kuschnir. A pen in our hand allows us to freely move beyond what can be captured using a camera. In a drawing, a dog can appear bigger than it actually is, emotions take place in a chosen colour palette, time and space assume their embodied forms. The technique as such presents an alternate way of communicating; when words give out, a camera is not enough, or when a fleeting moment is visually obscured</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Kam nas lahko črta odpelje, ko ne vodi v črko? Tehnika nam s tem ponuja alternativno možnost komunikacije; ko jezik odpove in ko kamera ni dovolj ali pa ni zaželena</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-L3XUWIOZ"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-L3XUWIOZ" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-L3XUWIOZ/42734ac8-3ebd-4546-9b23-2a3e6261d4df/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Filozofska fakulteta (Oddelek za etnologijo in kulturno antropologijo)</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-L3XUWIOZ/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-L3XUWIOZ" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
