Prvi del članka predstavlja pomembnost podatkovnih standardov v zdravstveni negi ter razvoj informatike in standardizirane terminologije v zdravstveni negi skozi desetletja. Opisani so pomembni mednarodni in domači projekti s tega področja. V drugem delu je predstavljeno trenutno stanje na področju standardizirane terminologije v Sloveniji in vlogadržave pri elektronskem zbiranju podatkov zdravstvene nege. V tretjem delu je opisana informacijska tehnologija, ki omogoča elektronsko evidentiranje podatkov v zdravstvu in trenutno stanje v Sloveniji.
